Frequently Asked Questions
Do you travel for weddings and if so, how far?
Here’s the thing….
I love travelling. I have a car. I have a current passport. I love those big aeroplane things that take us in the sky to awesome destinations! We are avid travellers and so to answer this question, – yes, I do travel for weddings and portrait sessions!
All weddings within 200km of Bundaberg (QLD) incur no additional travel fee.
I’ve travelled before and I’d love to again (we are always looking for excuses to visit and see new places!!) – So please feel free to ask! My passport is always current, and we are seasoned and avid travellers.
How do I book you to photograph us?
It’s pretty simple…
To book me to photograph your wedding or another SDP photo session, simply get in touch via my contact page, email me or give me a call to check my availability on your date.
If I am available, I will schedule a meeting with you, where we go and meet up for a coffee or two, and discuss all things wedding!
To secure me to photograph your wedding, a non-refundable booking fee of $500 is required, as well as a signed contract.
(Please note your booking fee is subtracted from your overall fee).
I am flexible with portrait sessions and can generally schedule these at shorter notice.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, I certainly do! I’m all about making things easy!
All SDP bridal clients are offered the opportunity to pay for their wedding package via instalment payments towards wedding photography via direct bank transfer as you wish. These instalments can be made when you wish to make them.
There is no pressure to pay per week or month. You pay when you see fit. Final payment is due 10 days before your wedding. It’s that simple’.
After each instalment is received, you will be sent a receipt via email with an update of your payment progress
Do you photograph same – sex marriage / commitment ceremonies?
Do we even need to discuss this?
Of course I will photograph same-sex couples! Love is Love. Next question!
Do you offer engagement sessions?
All SDP brides (& Grooms) receive a complimentary engagement session upon receipt of their booking fee and signed contract..
Stand-alone engagement sessions are priced at $300
What’s your style?
I would best describe my style as natural and unobtrusive.
My photography reflects my love of photographing a day to capture memories and heartfelt moments.
My second shooter and I will be there to capture everything about your day with the hope you barely remember seeing us.
I tend to stay back and capture your day as it unfolds, but I will also step in and take advantage of magical light and great photo opportunities should the need arise.
How early should I book you?
For portrait sessions;
I am always quite flexible with portrait sessions. I generally shoot in the late afternoon on any given day.
I start booking out weddings for the warmer months an average of 8 -12 months in advance, but if you love my work, and want to avoid the disappointment of missing out, its best to book as early as you know your wedding date.
What happens if we have poor weather conditions on our wedding day?
I always reiterate to my SDP brides (& grooms) the absolute importance of having a “Plan B”.
We are not guaranteed fine weather as little miss mother nature can be a tad unpredictable – especially in QLD.
I have photographed weddings in poor weather (think – torrential downpour), and I have photographed weddings in extreme heat conditions.
I always discuss options with my SDP Brides at our pre-wedding meetings.
What happens if we have poor weather conditions on our scheduled portrait photography day?
I am always happy to reschedule your portrait photography session if the weather is looking ominous, and I will work around you.
What payment methods do you accept?
You can make your payments online via credit card, or bank deposit/transfer.
Paypal and cash payments are also accepted, but not preferred.
What isn’t included as standard with your photography packages?
I focus on capturing unobtrusive moments that highlight your big day. I will not excessively smooth skin, enlarge eyes/lips, remove wrinkles, or adjust body shape unless alternate arrangements are made.
All excessive editing will incur an additional fee. (From $25 per photo).
Do you photoshop?
Well… Firstly, I pride myself on taking great photos in-camera at the photo session! Truth be told, as a self-taught photographer, I am not very photoshop savvy. It’s an amazing photo editing tool, but advanced editing is just not for me!
– I do however utilise other photo editing software to assist me with required photo editing to produce gorgeous images that both you and I love.
I also have a fantastic image editors on my team who are only an email away, who provide great ‘extra’ editing for me. I use this team of awesome super-hero editors in cases where we have some random photo bombers in the background, or need something specifically edited.
If you want me to retouch your hair, skin, figure, eyes, teeth etc., or request extensive photoshopping this is charged out at an additional fee, from $25 per photograph.
I’m worried I’ve left it too late to book my photographer, do you take last minute bookings?
Well, there is no harm in getting in touch to see if I am available! Drop me an email or give me a call and let’s discuss your options.

How long will it take to receive my photos back?
I want to deliver your photos back to you in as timely a manner as possible, but also understand that it is really important to me that your final images are edited and finalised perfectly so that you can look at them and cherish them forever.
Turn around time for weddings is usually 4-6 weeks.
Portrait, Graduation/formals, Newborn, Baby Bump, engagements and family sessions usually take 2-3 weeks depending on work load.
I always provide a sneak peek of your photos within a few business days of your session!

I keep a backed-up copy of your photos for a minimum of 12 months following your wedding or portrait date.
After this time, there is no guarantee that I will have a copy of all of your photos.
I advise all SDP clients that they should make a backup of their photos and keep them somewhere safe – generally away from your home.
(Hint: Mum’s always have safe places!)
Is your business Insured?
It certainly is!
Sharon Dawn Photography is a professional, registered and insured business.
Why do I need to pay a wedding booking fee?
The wedding booking fee paid protects both you and me.
You will have your shoot date and package price confirmed in writing, and upon receipt of your booking fee, I guarantee that the booking will be honoured.
Your booking fee will cover the standard running costs that would otherwise cause the business to run at a loss in the event of a cancellation.
Photographers may turn down several other clients to keep your date free after booking, so paying a booking fee ensures both of us are protected.
When is the final payment due?
For weddings, the final payment is due 10 days before the wedding.
Cash payments on the day will not be accepted.
Family, Engagement, BabyBump, Newborn, and Prom sessions are payable prior to or on the day of your booked photo session.

If you need to cancel your booking and don’t intend to reschedule, your booking fee is forfeit.

Additional hours of photography for weddings incur’s a fee of $300.00 per hour.
