“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching,
Love like you’ll never be hurt,
Sing like there’s nobody listening,
And live like it’s heaven on earth.”
-William W. Purkey
About 18 months ago, I was promoted and took on a new position at my ‘other job’. It meant packing up and transferring to a new location and it signalled a time in my life where I had to step out of my comfort zone and do the things that were only once a distant dream that I often caught myself thinking about every now and then.
Accepting the new job meant adapting to a new work environment and learning the ropes in a completely new role. – I’m not going to lie, – It’s been a great big ball of fun-filled, hair-pulling, learning-inspired chaos. (And I wouldn’t have it any other way!!).
My new job demands were exactly that.. – Demanding, But with the unwavering support of some amazing mentors, I whole-heartedly accepted the challenges that came with my new job, and my time and energy was focussed on my development, my family, my team, my own upcoming wedding, and my community. Regrettably my poor little self-built photography business had to sit in the corner and wait a little while to be picked up again and re-nurtured into the bubble of love that I have spent years creating!
I didn’t stop photographing sessions completely, and those who know me well enough know that its simply impossible for me to just stop captuting memories! – I still photographed family sessions, proms, maternity and newborn sessions, but I decided to take a break from photographing weddings (Well, most weddings anyway!) – so that I could focus on my role and the expectations that came with the position I worked so hard for.
During my ‘break’ I planned a styled wedding shoot to not only keep up with my skillset, but to continue to capture beautiful images to showcase my natural and unobtrusive photography style.
My styled-shoot vision was to photograph a country inspired wedding to showcase the beautiful district where we live, to capture the gorgeous rolling landscapes, the blue sky, and the carefree and relaxed country environment. I also wanted to highlight the sensational local suppliers we are fortunate enough to have in our area.
With a little help from a woman I have affectionately nicknamed as “Cyclone Nadia”, this styled shoot dream soon became a reality, because of Nadia’s amazing skills in all-things-planning and her outstanding ability to get sh*t done! -Before I knew it, I was photographing a gorgeous loved-up couple, at an amazing 2000 acre property, under the afternoon sunset glow. -Throw in a splash of elegance that was beautifully created by a simply amazing team and the images speak for themselves.
I am super proud of this shoot and super excited to be affiliated with so many amazing people who all worked so hard to make this little dream of mine come to fruition, and for them, I am so grateful.
